Hi

We're racing P 4/5 CM against the McLaren GT 3's in a few weeks.

So far they are fast but when they lose it they LOSE IT and there have been a few crashes.

The Gambella McLaren is fast and finished.

If any of you are at the 24 say Hello!

I think there are. It will be a very exciting car. As we use KERS in P 4/5 C I'm really a convert and believe that that feature will add a lot to the new F1. McLaren are making a very serious GT3 car and once it's more developed it will be a real contender. The McLaren racers are very nice guys.

Thanks for sharing. The P4/5 C is absolutely stunning and I very much enjoyed the Bloomberg magazine article showing all the hard work that went into the development. Thank you for doing it. Cheers!

Can you explain to me if there is a penalty for using KERS,other than its added weight?
As the 12c has had its power reduced to be more inline with the N/A racers,so in essence is the KERS system a freebee, and was this something that was in the p4/5C right from the drawing board? as i cant remember reading about it.
Thanks
From a tech point of view, which system are you using .

In racing there is a minium weight so if your car is light which P 4/5 C is there is no weight penalty as our system replaces ballast.

Last year we raced without it and this year we engineered it in (P 4/5 C Modificata). Our system is from Magnelli Maretti. We capture Kinetic energy from braking and also use our regular motor to charge while in traffic. The Extra horsepower and instant torque can be as much as 100 but if you want to use it during the entire lap you're talking about much less maybe 40. There is also the extra range which could mean fewer pit stops. P 4/5 CM is greener and faster which is good. Our lap times are a good 15 seconds faster on a 9 minute lap. Other changes have made us another 15 seconds faster this year but we still need another 15 to beat the German Factory teams. We have asked for more engine air and less weight and remain hopeful.

Good Luck Jim...I love what you have done with that car.

BTW... we met a couple of years ago at Daytona when you had the P3/P4 there. You are truly a gentleman racer/enthusiast.

After the intro this video opens with one of the Gemballa 12C GT3's hot on the heels of P4/5C M.

At 1:45 there's a real nail biter coming down the long straight in traffic. Yikes!

Right about the 3 min mark we go on-board with Nick Heidfeld for a full lap.

All the traffic must be maddening for the drivers in the faster cars!!

How different is your KERS system to the one Ferrari is using this year on the F1 cars?

Ours can produce a lot more HP for a lot longer. That said to have it available for the longest time we can't run it at full power and have to recharge during traffic and yellows as well as braking.

Even with KERS and a lot of development we're still 15 seconds slower than the German Manufactures. We're hoping the organisers will balance that for the race.

Is it an aero or bhp gap?

Seems to be HP as they are petitioning to be allowed to run less air restriction to improve their competitiveness.

That just shows why you guys have BIG BUDGETS! Go for it, very impressive.

How heavy is the average driver? Presumably that's an issue?
