Introducing the AWE Tuning MP4-12C Performance Catalyst and Exhaust System: Patiently hand crafted, leveraging expertise garnered over two decades of working with some of the finest automobiles on the planet.

• First 200 cell hi-flow catalyst solution in the world
• Rigorous dynamometer, reliability, power and tone testing
• No Check Engine Light, Guaranteed
• An impressive +46hp and +61tq at the crank
• Available as full exhaust and catalyst solution, or ala carte
• Simply the finest exhaust solution for one of the finest vehicles in the world

Introducing the AWE Tuning McLaren MP4-12C Performance Catalysts

AWE Tuning MP4-12C Performance Catalysts: Aggressive, unbridled and unique.

Verified to fit both the 12C Coupe and the 12C Spider, the AWE Tuning MP4-12C Performance Catalysts are the first in the world to feature 200 cell high flow catalysts.

Due to its dimensions, standard 300 cell HJS catalysts would have been far easier to fit into the McLaren. However, there is no HD (Heavy Duty) spec 300 cell HJS catalyst, and the close engine placement and power output that these catalysts are subject to in the MP4-12C, in our analysis, mandated better. The 200 cell HJS HD catalyst, while significantly more complex to integrate, afforded not only the durability we desired, but the added benefit of significant increased flow over a 300 cell count. In summary, we chose to not settle, because the MP4-12C deserves it.

Peerless build quality

AWE Tuning precision engineering and fixture development permits the factory heat shields to re-attach completely intact, with no deformation or subpar installation results. Further, our integration of proper articulating stainless steel fully lined flex joints provide proper torsional relief between the engine and the fixed muffler mounting points.

Besides factory correct fitment and long term durability, all this engineering adds up to an impressive +46hp and +61tq, as measured on the AWE Tuning in-house Mustang chassis dyno.

Introducing the AWE Tuning McLaren MP4-12C Performance Exhaust

The AWE Tuning McLaren MP4-12C Performance Exhaust is designed to perfectly smooth the aggressively raw tone that results from mating the AWE Tuning Performance Catalysts to the stock exhaust system. The resulting acoustic character is nothing short of breathtaking, offering a note that is both hard-hitting and exotic.

The exhaust is constructed from mandrel bent 304 stainless steel at 3” diameter throughout and features a small balance opening between the banks which produces the exotic, high pitched wail. The AWE Tuning Performance Exhaust features logo tips evoking the factory geometry in a discrete satin black finish, or an optional high profile bare stainless steel machined finish.

Options

The AWE Tuning McLaren MP4-12C System is available as a full package with choice of black or machined tips, or ala carte as either the performance catalysts, or exhaust alone.

AWE Tuning is now accepting orders, with a predicted delivery date of first orders in third week June.

Sounds superb!! how boomy is it on a long run??
Another quick question,i had 200cellcats on a 996tt and every 6 months the engine management light popped up,this only took a re-set from a specialist, how do these differ in that respect as at the moment there are no easy specialists to go to? Sorry for my ignorance as things have probably moved on since those days.Apparenty the sensors worked accumulatively before they popped off.

Hey Andy,

Neither our engineering team nor our President reported any unpleasantness inside the cabin.

The 200 Cell HJS units are the same that were used on our 997.2TT with no issues in a similar configuration for 10,000 miles, about half of which were spent at 750hp.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

i have put about 100miles on my car now and ISG still works perfect, so you can adjust sound inside cabin.
this is how the car should have been from the factory.

So Will the most important questions is this unit currently available for purchase? If so how much will the complete exhaust system be worth? Cheers.....??

Will it pass Ca. emissions test.

Does anyone have before and after comparisons?
I’ll see if we can whip up a quick video. We did do some stock baseline sound testing.

Also, please note that forum member Mac 1 was the development car for this project. He can answer a lot of questions for you guys from an owner’s perspective.

So Will the most important questions is this unit currently available for purchase? If so how much will the complete exhaust system be worth? Cheers.....??
The units are currently available for purchase. Full details on availability and pricing can be found right here.

I'd be curious on before/after 0-60, 0-100, 0-130, 0-180 (Why not?) :)
Development was done a client car, so we did not want to abuse it with power launches. However, send me a PM and I can put you in touch with a very reputable resource that can confirm the real world acceleration improvement that this product unlocked.

Will it pass Ca. emissions test.
Technically, any alteration of the factory catalytic converter system is not Federal emissions legal. No matter 200 cell, 300 cell, or even 900 cell.

However, our catalytic converter system passes all on board emissions checks: there are no fault codes registered in the ECU and all the emissions readiness tests also pass. Therefore, hooking up an emissions scanner to the car will not throw any red flags. Further, because the catalysts are buried under heat shields, they will also pass the visual part of an emissions test.

Please note that this product does not have CARB exemption, and we make no guarantees about passing emissions tests, because, like any aftermarket catalyst product, they are technically not legal. Anyone telling you otherwise is not being truthful with you. Bottom line: will you have any trouble with our Performance Catalysts and passing emissions tests? Chances of issues are extremely, extremely low.

What percentage factor did you use to convert RWHP to Crank
Without special factory ECU tools, it is not possible to put the MP4-12C into two wheel drive dyno mode. If the car is not in this unlocked test state, it will remain in a low power mode while testing in two wheel drive (since it sees that the front wheels are not moving). For ease of testing, we put our dyno in all wheel drive mode. Power output results were incredibly consistent, even with the extra load the car was spinning. See our wheel power dyno sheet here:

We used a 1.25 correction factor to get back to factory quoted crank power, and used this same factor when correcting for our performance product results. Same day before/after testing was done, too, to minimize variables. It was very labor intensive to do that on the MP4-12C, but we are known for publishing impeachable power results and always do our due diligence when obtaining them.

Question, in your youtube video with the catalytic converter only, was that car fitted with the standard exhaust system or with the factory's inconel sport exhaust system?

Looks great. Is that painted or wrapped? If wrapped, who did it?
painted by classic coach works in Philly.
i have the original dyno's and bottom line was a 46hp gain over stock (which was plenty for me)
until a remap comes out ;)
