I'm gonna back off........but contrary to popular belief.......I LIKE McLaren..........just disappointed that they came up short with the EXPERTS (7/7 nays)........NO WAY can YOU drive the 12C better than them :0p..........if and when you get your 12C PLEEEEEEEEEEEEZ give us your HONEST assessment ..........don't hold back just because you idolize RON :0)
To be upset with some of the reviews is fair. We all are. But, personally, I have also seen a fair amount of evidence to suggest that:
1- The press 458 is a ringer.
2- The 12C is capable of being the fastest customer spec car in its class.
3- The 12C is probably the best daily driver in its class.
When you combine those with all the other benefits of being a McLaren enthusiast, my criteria are all filled. Not much more to say than that. I don't remember Ron promising me that every journalist is going to prefer it to the 458. If that is how you understood him, that is your fault.
But yeah, you should chill, because you are repeatedly slamming McLaren for something you were never going to get in the first place. The 12C will never be louder than a 458 b/c it is turbo- that's why it has more power and torque and it's lighter. The throttle response will never be as sharp for the same reason, etc., etc. If you didn't understand these basic things about its design, what were you even expecting? Man, Gavin Green calls it the new benchmark and gives 10 reasons and you are hung up on one paragraph or comment about the 458 being more exciting? You are the one reading with blinders on.
And don't make assumptions about me. I may not be BTCC champion but I've been signed off for my racing license in a Formula car, so I'm not worried about whether I could show some of these journalists which way the track goes. I only say that to counter your presumption about me and highlight that when I see a journalist tossing the car around for TV instead of driving properly for a lap time, I'm not just talking out my arse. Even factoring setup, racing drivers adapt to their equipment, not the other way around.
Thanks for your reply. I know you lke McLaren. But honestly, I don't think many journalists are going to pick it over the 458. I understood that from the beginning. You need to realize that and get over it, or else just bail now. I'm just trying to be perfectly honest with you.
