250+mph top speed, 200kWh battery pack, 620 miles range, 1.9 0-60mph time, 8.9 second 1/4 mile. "These numbers sound unreal but they're not" says Musk.
0-100mph in 4.2sec. $200k, $50k deposit, $250k for founders model--whatever that is. Slated for 2020? 4 seats. Single wiper? Plenty of luggage room.

Amazing. Wonder if it has a carbon tub. Not clear how much it weighs and if it can do much more than go in a straight line, or manage to finish a lap at a track without the batteries overheating, but still, stunning numbers.

His semi truck does 0-60 in 5sec and manages to have center seating position ala F1:

New Tesla Roadster. Unreal numbers

Thanks to Dragtimes for the live video. The figures on this car stagger the mind. I don't even understand how they did it/will do it.

Obviously, this car is geared. It must also be one seriously light, huge power car that somehow can keep traction.

I don't think it will come close to the latest cars on the track by the time it releases, but that's some untouchable acceleration.

Maybe only Project One can get close to that, and this thing apparently will have higher top end?!?!?

Just a generic 1/4 mile calculator suggests 1100 hp and 3400 lb weight with perfect traction. The calculator suggests a Project One at 2900 lb and 950 hp would be at just about the same exact 1/4 mile time. Of course the Tesla would have less drag due to the design philosophy.

I saw in your video it said 10000nm of torque! I think I read somewhere that's around 7,374 lb ft? Lunatic figures here. Wonder how much it weighs. The truck can charge 400 miles of range in 30 minute and has bomb proof glass!?

Game changer!
McLaren, Lamborghini, and Ferrari must be reflecting on this.

If by reflecting you mean soiling themselves, weíre in agreement.

McLaren did say they plan an all electric car, and I imagine this should turn up the heat to accelerate plans for release. I donít remember the last time the auto industry was in so much flux and so interesting to watch!

Is this the company whose recent earnings (losses) were about 30% worse than forecast, that in the last few months has gone through $1b of cash, that is reportedly having severe production problems, and that has recently fired so many employees that the UAW have filed a formal complaint against it?
I want to buy automobiles design by car guys, not by computer geeks. Any company that proposes to stick this atrocity on the end of a steering column deserves to go out of business, the sooner the better:

Unless they have a new tyre available, I don't see how any existing road tyre is capable of getting a car from 0-60 below 2 seconds. And the rather more important thing is how it goes around corners. Oh or how the batter cooling is going to work under track use such that the battery doesn't cook itself after a lap.....

Will the money-distraction-engine "Tesla" survive? They should better focus on their production skills...

If it can handle at all, I would get this...

Video of a test drive looks like it accelerates pretty hard here: http://www.thedrive.com/news/16182/t...-0-60-mph-time

Driver claims it will do that ďall night longĒ and is the fastest accelerating car he has ever driven.

Iím am curious of the weight and how it will handle corners though.

Tesla just put all auto manufacturers on notice. I hope McLaren will have an answer. And an answer that isn't limited to 500 or less...

As with their other vehicles, this roadster has most of the weight (the batteries) very low in the chassis, so it should handle superbly. I wonder if Lotus helped with the suspension dynamics again?

And yeah, that steering wheel is what, designed for some BH housewife?
