570S Anticipation / New Owner

Hi all,

I've had my eye on the 570S for a few months now. Having just sold my R8 V10 plus, i'm almost certain now that i'll be replacing it with a 570S or 570GT.

I've got a couple questions before I go ahead and buy. They're about the cars dimensions. I've got a twin garage at home, two single doors, in the UK. Each have an opening of 2200mm/86inch. I've read so much varying info online about the width of this car. Some saying the car is 1940mm wide, some places saying its 2049mm wide, some places saying its 2100mm wide! I imagine some of this info will be with mirrors, without mirrors etc though i'm struggling to see what's what, the dealers weren't particularly helpful either.

Can anyone shed some light on what the dimensions are for this car with mirrors, and with mirrors folded? and lastly, can anyone tell me if the wing mirrors are powered? As without having my garage doors widened I am worried about the stress getting this car in and out will cause me. It'd be good to know now so I can start the garage work immediately.

thanks for the help and i'm really excited to be part of the McLaren family, finally!

Hey Martin,
Congrats on making the first step to a great decision! You've got nothing to worry about regarding the 570S clearing your garage opening. Mirrors powerfold upon locking the car or can me folded at the push of a button. What you do need to watch out for is the door opening. Unlike a standard, horizontally opened door, the McLaren's 'dihedral' aka butterfly door opens all the way up everytime to allow passengers to clear the sill and exit the low slung vehicle. Careful of any walls, support beams, ceiling fixtures, etc. And you should be all set! Enjoy the process.

I recently traded my R8 V10 Plus for a 570s. I have a small two car garage and my only issue is the door opening. Its not really a big problem. I just have to hold the door from opening all the way up because it will barely come into contact with some shelves I have. Its really not a big issue for me. I do have to pull out of the garage before a passenger gets in but still not a big deal.

That's great info, thanks both.

The height wont be an issue for me, it's a pitched roof in my garage and has the "roller shutter" type doors. So no overhead/overhang above.

Incidentally; How does the 570 compare to your V10? I am a little sad to be selling my Audi. I loved the sound just found it quite hard to use on the road and have fun with it. It's so flat below 5k rpm.

I love my 570s way more than my R8. The 570 is truly a drivers car. much more comparable to my GT3RS. The R8 has a great interior, luxury, great navigation and media stuff and the Bang Olufsen is incredible. I did not like the grabby breaks, and the down shifts were brutal on all passengers. Everyone complained about it and my wife was car sick in a matter of minutes, which was no fun because I felt like I could never drive in sport mode with her. Im a 911 guy, have been for years and the Mclaren is the closest thing to a 911 so far for me.

Thats good to know, I dont know why I just never did fall in love with my R8. I liked it on the day I bought it but just never took to it after that.... which is unusual for me.

Are there any options I should be looking for specifically in the 570s? This is the one i'm looking at - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...MCLAREN&page=1
