A McLaren coming to Portland!

Hello everyone! Excited to join the McLaren team! Just put the deposit down on a beautiful orange 2016 650s spider. It will make the journey across the country to Portland, OR over the next couple of weeks. We’re ready to embrace it with some authentic British weather!
This will be my first foray outside of German performance cars (coming from 911T and v10 R8).
First act of preparation will be trying to retrofit my uncomfortably steep driveway in downtown Portland.
Excited to be part of this community! Anyone else in the PNW here?

Paul

Congrats on your incoming 650S! Do you have the front lift system? It sounds like your driveway is quite steep..

Congrats on the new ride! Which shade of orange is the 650? I think there's at least 8 choices...

An adage from the misspent youth of my skydiving days: "Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast..."

If its Volcano.
Depends on which part of the car you are looking at.

Congrats on the new ride OP. 650s is a great car to start with.

Thanks all for the well wishes!
It’s tarocco orange, which doesn’t mean all that much to me to be honest 😉

Yea unfortunately it doesn’t have the lift, but not sure it would make a huge difference.. it’s a steep-ish grade for about two feet and then it flattens out. Looking into some speed bump/curb ramp type solutions. And a skid plate! Oh what did I get myself into. Maybe I’ll just rent a garage somewhere 🙂

Anyone have luck solving this here?

Now that I took a photo I realize it doesn’t look all that bad in the front after all - maybe I’m more worried than I need to be. Lol

Thanks, Lou. I'm getting a sample of the bridjit solution (pretty much the same as the pyle one you linked to) to try out. They say it may not be the best because I don't have the "dip" that they really solve for. Let's see!
Also got some ramps just in case. I might build a solution our of two separate speed bumps.. One to lift the car up before the incline, the other to carry it up. Will post photos once I have a solution installed.

No way! That's fantastic. Hopefully we'll see each other on a drive. We organize a lot of them during the summer!

I'm always up for a drive. I'm in close-in SW Portland off of Dosch Road.

Hi Joe!
Yes, it has! It arrived a couple of weeks ago, but I've had it in the shop to put skid plate and paint protection on before I take it out at all. Those were some tough 2 weeks
This weekend was the first time I really drove it. Put some 300 miles on it. What a car!! I'm so happy with it! Have you taken yours out yet? I'm traveling for the next few weeks but really looking forward to some drives after that! I'll make sure to let you know when we get our bigger group out. Would be great to have more McLarens represented vs. the bulls
