I had a similar question - where there any restrictions on the purchase - only you can drive it and then only with McLaren Engineers in attendance for example or could you just take it down to your local track day? Ducati sold some of their MotoGP bikes to private buyers but they had to have it service every year by MotoGP Engineers and you couldn't ride it unless they were in attendance as the start-up procedure is pretty complicated and you could do some real damage if you got it wrong!!
Oh and btw many congratulations Mikey that must be one of the rarer "car" purchases!!
The car will be supported by the heritage department, the same guys you see maintaining the older cars in the MTC. We have a commitment from them to support whenever wherever, but you can imagine am unlikely to be going to Oulton park or Dijon on a cold wet Sunday morning. :-).
Equally we will be shown at some point all necessary procedures to run the car, and indeed supplied with the equipment to do so.
But in reality I personally will never run the car without the support of mclaren.
