We just want to be sure that all 12C owners are aware that McLaren is doing everything possible to ensure that ALL 12C vehicles receive the airbag recall as outlined in the following NHTSA document as quickly as possible.
Whether you purchased a 12C new or Used McLaren will cover the transportation costs to and from the nearest authorized McLaren dealership to ensure the airbag recall is completed.
Please contact your nearest authorized McLaren Dealership to schedule an appointment. Make sure you have the full 17 digit VIN number on hand when calling so the dealership can double check if your car has had the recall completed previously. If you are unable to locate the VIN number on your vehicles registration or insurance card, you can find it located in the bottom drivers side of the windscreen as viewed from outside the vehicle.
Due to the limited supply of Takata Airbags there may be a slight delay in scheduling the recall so your patience is appreciated.
previously discussed, "slight delay" is generally not the case. Its usually a long delay.
Better to confirm there is an airbag before bringing car in, and make sure they have all the parts and clips before letting them take apart the car or else a 1 day job turns into a 3-4 day job waiting for parts.
I am a Ford dealer and we are dealing with air bag recalls as well. It takes along time because of the amount of recalled vehicles as well as new cars being built that bags go into as well. In the Ford world, a ticket is made with all information and then the bag is ordered for that customer. It does take about 6 months. Fyi
