Yeah, they probably ran in to a detonation issue with the fuel at a certain boost pressure. You have to either lower the compression ratio or increase the octane - and if they indeed performed such a test, it would have been with the consumer in mind - i.e. regular gasoline. Also if they were just seeing what the M838T could do, they wouldn’t start changing internals to lower the compression ratio (already fairly low at 8.7:1).

Running on E85 should solve a lot of that (my 4-cylinder Evo develops over 700HP on E85).

12cKid - I would definitely recommend looking at adding water injection (WI) though for additional protection and for maintaining power. Also I’ve found that when air temps are hot, especially on standing starts where heat soak creeps in rapidly, WI makes a huge difference. In a back to back dyno test (which mimics a heat soaked engine since dyno cooling fans suck), I found that I lost about 12% of power - then turning on WI regained almost all that power. I typically like Aquamist for WI. Even BMW ships with WI on their stock M4GTS.

Yes I’ve had WI on many cars , i won’t tune with it because if it fails while your running hard the engine could fail. But i have used it for heat soak

How about water-methanol injection? 50:50 mix. The Hypercar guys use it for their 800R builds and put down 776 whp reliably on the dyno with stock turbos. Weistec uses it too for their higher HP kits. I had w/m injection installed on my 12C before I sold it and IATs dropped 40-50 degrees when it was spraying. Worked great on a track day

With running 100% e85 it’s not necessary and if for some reason that meth pump fails with no fail safes set you will run lean and blow the motor. I’d rather run e85 or race fuel and get rid of that possibly of a meth pump or solenoid failing.

no billet, chrome, or bling... Definitely paint them black.
