It is much easier for companies like VAG and Mercedes to produce a new custom street car than for a McLaren to do so. It seems like MB introduce more new models a year than McLaren has made in their lifetime. They have massive global resources at their disposal so they can brute-force approvals, afford extra crash testing, and pull from their incredible parts bins. Even Ferrari now typically wonít deviate from the road cars very much for their custom cars. Eric Claptonís car for example, except for typical custom interior materials and colors (no different than what MSO would offer) over a completely normal 458 interior, is mechanically a bone stock 458 underneath itís custom skin. And itís really just a custom skin. Iíd bet even the glass is still stock 458.
