Great writeup, and even greater trip! Were you at any point worried about breaking down in a remote location? I've done one long road trip (MA to CA), but in a much more common and known reliable car (Lexus LS460); the small McLaren dealer network makes me a bit anxious.

No I had put on some longer mile trips up to 400 each way and no problems so i was surprised mechanically besides a flat was worst that could happen. Hopefully

if you want to see how fast you are really traveling simply look at your GPS. when I was approaching 209 mph (highway 80 in Nevada between exits 12 and 22, fenced on both sides so no animals accidently crossing and flat two lanes and no traffic on either side at 9:15 in the morning and newly paved. I decided to check my GPS speed and saw I was really approaching 200 mph. I stopped at 201 mph GPS verified because I wanted a chance to break the record and I have seen on u-tube the mp4 can do up to 217mph, though not sure if it was strictly speedometer, I know I had lots of room to go faster.
btw, no need to use brakes, you slow down fast without them.
the most fun of going that fast is not going that fast, it is doing 65 mph afterwards and feeling you can get out and run faster, it is an awesome feeling.
according to Federal law in USA, al cars have their speedometers off by 2.5 mph at 60 mph.
