McLaren Thermal Experience Oct 4-6

Is anyone planning on doing the McLaren Thermal Experience Oct 4-6?

Do you know the schedule for the events? Is it possible to do Pure McLaren Experience (their 570/720) in the AM and then do Owner Track Day - Road Cars in the afternoon on Oct 4? Or best to split the 2 experiences between 2 days?

2012 Hyper800R 12C - Volcano Red. Sold but not forgotten.

Did you look at what kinda $ they are asking for those events?

Do the "R" update instead.

OK, and that's for about 60 minutes of track time and some catered food on the short course at Thermal.

Check the schedule.

Tell you what, I'll take you to Laguna Seca for a full 8 hour day for half that number.

Can probably transport my car to and from Laguna Seca and fly up there for less, right? But I would have to bring my own lunch...

O'Gara McLaren BH did 1/2 day for $530, including plenty of instructors, breakfast and lunch. Beautifully done, great experience, great customer relations. And they continue to do weekend drives and attend events to stay close to their customers.

Stunned at the Pure McLaren pricing - they certainly don't know how to, or care to, retain their customers and loyalty to the brand, only to turn a profit. I will boycott !!!

I just received this email :

"For the third year running, McLaren will once again offer an unforgettable driving experience for 2018. We welcome back our owners from years past as well as those joining us for the first time.

You're exclusively invited to join a band of like-minded McLaren owners for an unforgettable road rally to Monterey Car Week and Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

From Los Angeles to Carmel Valley, you'll enjoy mile after mile of scenic roads, world-class resorts and dining, culminating with hospitality at the McLaren Brand Centre at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Join Design Director Rob Melville and McLaren Ambassador Bruno Senna, for the opportunity to experience the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance with the McLaren team and fellow McLaren owners. Event pricing starts at $22,000."

22K No thanks. I spent roughly the same amount of money a few years ago but rented a large home in pebble for the week, invited 10 friends and went to all car week events.

Yeah... $22k is quite pricey. You can do Fuel Run from Malibu to Monterey with a bunch of different exotic cars for $500....

I think the announcement lacks clarity as to what you get for $22k and conflates the rally event with this cost. For reference I did the inaugural run it cost $750 per couple and the following year for I believe it was $600. You could get car event tickets, i.e. Quail through McLaren, for an additional cost and as for getting access to Mclaren executives and engineers, that was free, just show up to the reception following the rally.

Or you could drive up there without the crowd for $45 in gas.

I think Mac HQ has their priorities backwards, they "ought" to be pricing these things as brand marketing good will expense loss leaders, not as an additional profit center.

JMO of course.

Got this as well and was in sticker shock does it include full use of a car as well? Even at $22k still pretty crazy with included use of a car.

I got the e-mail as well. I was excited at first as going to Quail and Pebble Beach is a bucket list item for sure... Then I saw the cost! 22k!!!! I get it that it's for a whole week, but 22k?!?!?!?

Maybe we need a "McLarenLife Goes to the Fancy Car Show" Event...
