Haha ... yes .. very good point... unlikely ever to happen is it.. !

You had better tires than me, you had less fuel than me, it was a damper at the third corner, track was a lot cooler, air density was higher... etc. .etc...etc.. ;-)

“accompanied by a purely electric and wheel selective front axle drive concept.”

Now that is what I'm talking about..... Let's just migrate it down to less rarefied air.

IIRC NSX has 2 electric motors on front axle!

...And yet I read somewhere recently that the new NSX is a heavy overweight pig that offers no advantage in gas mileage or performance than the Porsche 911R with it's lighter weight, manual transmission and 4.0L NA flat 6.

Progress...

Or the 10 year-old Nissan GTR.

And the GTR has been called portly since it arrived in 2008. That was the one it had to beat, and it couldn't.

Maybe they will give us a lighter weight NSX R one day???

I can't see the AMG offering much more than an F1 style KERS or mily hybrid system if it wants to stay with its ethos. Full hybrid with big battery and e-motors will substantially increase density and be difficult to package.

The benefit of relying on the ICE for sustained power is that you only need the battery/motors to fill in torque gaps. That keeps the battery(ies) small as you really do not care about "all electric range". You just want that puppy to bolt out of a corner

I thought I read somewhere that it would have F1-style heat recovery too.

It's as close to the 2015 F1 engine as a road engine can be, so it will have MGU-H, MGU-K, and likely regenerative braking on the front motors. F1 battery packs are quite small already, but a car like this will not see as much full throttle time as a F1 car, and as such, it will not use as much battery power. You can simply add another F1 battery pack for the front motors to use

I was talking to Brian(BC) this morning and spoke about how he was ambushed at Le Richemond last night because he had one of his motorsports shirts on. About 4 guys are tagging along to the private Mercedes showing there in Geneva. I understand there is also other manufacturers private showings taking place starting today and the next few days. I think after the unveiling of the 720s he might get a chance to drive one. I wasn't sure if he said a 488 Speciale was going to be present at the show because we were talking about many cars and their horsepower figures. I think he said the Speciale has about had 35 more hp than the 488 GTB.
