300 mph? Isn't that pointless? The tires wear out too fast, the fuel runs out fast, you can do it in so few places around the world (VW isn't about to let them use Ehra Lessien), and if there's one thing that we've learned about the Veyron is that a company will, in trying to cover their liability, require ridiculous parts prices and servicing intervals. Would Mclaren really want to get involved with the top speed wars?

Are there any road tyres made that can take 300 mph?

I'm not sure. The Veyron's tires have been to 268. If there isn't a tire in existence and Mclaren do want to go to 300, I would imagine they'd work with someone to make custom tires for the car.
I keep thinking that if they did try to go for an incredible top speed, they might end up compromising how good it feels at low speed. |

CGT by a country mile. The SLR is more Mercedes than McLaren to me.

I was just in a GTC yesterday, which reminded me how good the SLR really is over all. Yes its a compromise, yes its a Mercedes, but nothing really wrong with that. |
