Would there be any chance of McLaren either racing an in house LMP1 car or supplying engines for Prototypes? McLola twin turbo V8 P1 anybody?

Ron recently said they would enter U.S. racing in some capacity. Assumed that would be 12C in GT2 class, but a prototype would be amazing. Seems P1 rules currently favour the diesels, tho. Where is that sketch from?

Found a Lola diagram set.....just modified the nose of the Aston-Lola to be more like the M6GT. 2014 the P1 regs will change and it seems a Group C style fuel equivalency formula will be used with a maximum amount of fuel allowed per race leaving the drivetrain open.

When Gordon Murray was still with McLaren he developed something similar. Unfortunately it never made it off the drawing board and onto a race track.

P6? So the MP4-12C is the P11, what are the other P cars before the P11? (OT alert!)

The F1 was obviously Project 1 for McLaren Cars. The longtail version was different enough that it might have been considered a separate project, but I am not certain of that.
I am not privy to all of the others unfortunately, but here's a couple more. P5 was the car that Gordon Murray designed as McLaren's suggestion for the supercar they would build for Mercedes Benz when that relationship formed. The last photo is a sketch he shared during his discussion at Art Center in 2005 which has a very similar appearance to P5. Mercedes own designers had sculpted the Vision SLR concept car at the same time which received considerable public interest after its unveiling and the rest, as they say, is history. >8^) ER |

That P2 looks like it had some promise...Once again awesome work with the info Peloton!
I've been hoping for a while now that since GT1 is becoming 'GT World' the ACO or FIA would create a new GT1 class using the proposed (in 2008) LMP 'Evo' regulations to create what would essentially be late 90's GT1 cars. IIRC Ron did mention he wanted to win with something that resembled a road car and a small run of cars to meet homologation requirements would do the trick nicely. 'Corvette' LMPEvo windtunnel model made by Pratt & Miller (the crew that run Corvette Racing) ![]() Would be awesome to see a McLaren version
