Latest rumors seem to point to the F1 successor being delivered in early 2014. If so, production would need to start in 2013 with orders being taken about a year in advance. Looking at the timeline, it would seem that we would start to see development mules shortly. Anyone spotted a heavily modified 12C leaving the gates at Woking recently?

Being an ultra-exclusive hyper exotic high-performance sports-car platform, what proverbial competitors would it be slotted alongside! I'm curious of all what that prospective "owners" would consider, while mulling the decision?
ie. Zonda Huayra, Koenigsegg CCX/CCXR, SSC Tuatara, Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari F70 (Enzo-successor)... and/or Aston Martin One-77, Bugatti Veyron, etc. Are there any other at/near 7-figure "road-going" offerings I missed?

I think the ones they would look at as competitors are the Huayra and Enzo successor. Others are too niche with teh exception of the Porsche 918 which is aimed at a slightly different market.

Test mules up and running around december. Ferrari's F70 could be shown at geneva or latest in paris 2012. wonder how fast the F70 could go around Dunsfold? Aventador 1.16,5 sec not too bad considering the weight! L Last edited by TAG; 08-01-2011 at 03:15 PM. |

There's also the Hennessey Venom GT in that niche range. Probably the least desired though.

I really don't think there will be a lot of improvement in times over the 12C without a lot of weight lost or better tires. There is only so much physics bending one can do over a 1.5 mile course and more horsepower will not be enough.
BTW. I hear the hennessy pushes quite a bit, but it is a cool car. Too bad it is priced 6 times more than it should be for a re-engineered lotus with a chevy. |

1min 16 sec with Martino Lopez. Michael Schumacher did 1min 22.3 sec in the showroom Enzo (2003) with Bridgestone standard tires. Dario Benuzzi did it in 1min 24.9 sec around Fiorano. Old man and everything
![]() Ferrari 458 Italia with Fernando Alonso 1min 22.4 sec (2010) Remember that the 2012 models are upgraded dampers & E diff and Michelin tires and CCB brakes as standard. The tires alone is said to be doing 0.6/sec/lap. the rest another 0.4 sec, ie 1 sec faster car than the 2009 model. Compare the FXX lap times around Dunsfold (M.Schumacher) 1min 10.7 sec. That should mean that the MP4-12C should be capable (With a F1 level of driver of course) around Fiorano in about 1min 19 sec bracket! No to bad considering, what an Enzo is valued at /Lukie Last edited by TAG; 08-12-2011 at 10:50 AM. |

I can tell you that McLaren borrowed a few competitor hypercars for wind tunnel testing for the new F1 successor about a year ago....
