The P1's interior actually brings to my mind similar themes and functional styles as did the interiors of the F1 LMs, road legalized F1 GTRs like #13R and #16R, and also the Zonda 760RS - pared-down, raw, performance- and driver-focused, and weight-minimized. It's great.

hello to everyone. I'm new to the forum. I had the chance to see the car in yellow volcano and sit down inside and I can say that it is wonderful and the finish is just perfect. The interior is much more impressive than the pictures. He has an incredible sense of race. Like the exterior, you can anderstand when you see in real.

one of you showed a rendering of the P1 in yellow volcano with logo gulf that I found really beautiful. But I can not find it. I have been very happy to see it again. Is it possible to show it one more time? thanks a lot

To argue that the interior is not 'special enough' is ludicrous - was the F40 known for its luxurious interior? Hardly. I love the look of the P1 interior - so simple. You are there to drive, so here is your seat and the few functions you need right at hand. The interior of the F40 is perhaps one of the most impressive as it harks back to the old days of racing when a seatbelt or door handles would have been counted as luxury! The closer that the P1 is to that, with caveats for some comfort and modern features, the better. Strip out the unnecessary stuff, if I wanted that I would drive my Rolls Royce (not that I have one, but that is besides the point )!

Where I have major large issues with about Stephenson's styling is his seeming insistence on using squaliform shapes to style the front grilles of both the P1 and the 12C. The rear of the P1 being as tightly packaged as it is is probably far more an aerodynamic/engineering solution rather than a styling issue so I am not sure I would give Stephenson credit for that. As for the interior, the 12C's is brilliant and the best of any car since the CGT IMO but if I'm wrong, Stephenson has said he joined Mclaren too late to have much influence over the 12C and only amended the front grille and some elements of the rear so again not sure he had much to do with the 12C interior. The P1 interior as I said earlier looks very good though. I however could not disagree more with your statement ""Much of the F1's mystique and legacy revolves around its top speed"". Top speed and indeed the F1 GTR's racing performance was more a byproduct of the excellence of design and philosophy Gordon Murray brought to the F1 program as the F1 was designed to be a road car first and foremost and certainly was not designed with the top speed record in mind. The P1 of course would be far faster on track than an F1 but the F1 suffers from using relatively antiquated tyre/brake technology. If a F1 LM or even F1 with the HDF could be equipped with modern tyres and brakes, I doubt very much it would suffer anything like as badly compared to the P1 on track performance as one might assume a 20 year old car with no traction control should. Capable and exceedingly quick the P1 undoubtedly will be, active suspension possibly apart that the P1 might utilise, there is nothing so far I have seen to suggest the P1 has anything genuinely as revolutionary to bring to the ultra high performance car segment now compared to the F1. |

The P1 will kill an earlier McLaren F1 GTR on slicks. It is a HUGE leap forward in terms of performance

Have any horsepower numbers come out yet? Is it roughly 900+bhp? Similar to the f150?

Nice pics on the past few pages. Really nice.
Seeing the interior in-person & now in-print/on-screen, it still doesn't lose its sense-of-occasion & race-like-demeanor. Admittedly, I wanted more flash & fuzz- but being such a serious & focused platform, it's more than obvious why it's all business & little else. Easily being the only hyper super-car on the market that I'd want, if I was in the position to even acquire it. And it's not exactly a sparse niche, considering the forthcoming & likely fetching F150, current stylish Huayra, tech marvel 918, and sensory-overload Agera. Quote:
