Current warrantee cost

I have a 2014 Spyder. I bought it in 2015 and got the 3 year warrantee of course and negotiated one MORE year. So I have warrantee now until till 7/2018. I have been offered 2 MORE years from my local dealer (which I like a lot) for $7,400.

So coverage would be until 7/2020.

I DO plan to keep the car.

What are your thoughts about the price and need?

Current milage is approx 6,500 as I recall.

Its up to you... how reliable has it been to now? If it were me i would not decide till it was closer to the expiration date. You still have some time to see how the car is.

I agree with this statement. I am extending my warranty on a year by year basis just in case I ever do sell the car. The $7,400.00 does sound like a deal (if that's in dollars) as I know one year is currently around $4,500.00.

Yes it is in $. The $500 inspection fee is also waived. I think it is a discounted #.

The car has been perfect for the 1 1/2 years I have owned it.

$7400 is a very good deal. Take that.

Will help the resale value as well.

Just my 2cents.

What dealer is offering $7400? Newport Beach?

If you definitely plan on keeping it, it sounds like a good idea. The warranty retains a fair amount of value come resale and makes a car easier to sell as well. Not sure you need to do it now though...

What's the deal with the $1000+ swings in price for this? Seems like something that should be the same price regardless of which dealership you get it from. My factory warranty is up in March so I need to start shopping around... I assume this is something I can shop against various dealerships in case my local place is more expensive?

I'm actually shocked that the dealership was even offering a discount. I was under the impression that the $4,400 - $4,500 for one year was a direct cost from the dealer to McLaren. I guess I must be mistaken if there is a dealer offering $1,000 off of this if you purchase two years.

These warranties are negotiable. I just paid $7,000 for a 2 year (no service or skid plates). Just purchased 2 weeks ago. Keep in mind, this was for a 570s. McLaren Beverly Hills. I am in another state, hence I could not buy the service with it. My local dealer would not match it.

I would assume the warranty to be "cheaper" for the 570S vs. the Super Series cars (just out of tiered principals). Not to mention I'm holding the warranty for my 12C a lot due to the suspension (which the 570 is obviously different and more traditional).

I always recommend to purchase the extended warranty on a year by year basis because it is only transferable during a private party sale. Pretty pointless spending the money and having three years of extended warranty if it's worth nothing at trade-in, and it's hard to find private party buyers for expensive exotics.
