We wrapped one of our vehicles in gulf colors, just for fun! With no more chrome 12c, we decided to give it another try with our creativity.

I've seen this car in person and it looks absolutely amazing. Would love to see a Heritage Ford GT owner picking this up. Great job McLarenNB!!

looks fantastic. i'm just wondering what's the deal/special with doing Gulf color scheme on cars? is it because of past race cars, heritage or people just like the color scheme?

Its the history, Gulf racing was a big deal back in the day. Octane magazine did a special on the Gulf cars not too long ago. John Wyer was team boss initially?
Earlier this year I got to see a Gulf orange 427 Cobra hidden in a garage, un- restored, 10,000 original miles. It came from the Gulf guys back in the 60s. current stable; - 2012 McLaren MP4-12C - 2006 Ford GT - ERA #675 Cobra with 427 side-oiler - 1967 MG Midget with 500hp Chevy - 1961 Morris Miata Traveler - 2007 Range Rover HSE SC |

Gulf was a McLaren F1 racing sponsor in 1996. I don't normally like these kinds of paint schemes, but this one is for me a beautiful homage, and to those of us who recall those days of racing in real time, a wonderful remembrance.

LOL - yes, I am sure that's it.
![]() Actually the video description gives away the name of the collection's true owner - Roald Goethe. I am guessing his middle name might start with an F, and there you have it. ![]() >8^) ER |

I was soooo about to do a gulf livery - and then I saw one of these drive by me:
http://www.taxiservicebayarea.com/ Current rides: MP4-12C, Porsche Boxster S, BMW X3, BMW S1000RR Waiting on: McLaren P1 or Koenigsegg Agera R or Porsche 918... tough choice! (Either way, should still be stuffed with Swedish supermodels.) |

Interested in the carbon fiber rear wing. I haven't seen that before on a 12C but I do love it!

Love Gulf livery - everything it stands for - the era it represents. JPS ain't too shabby either, but too elegant for a closed car (needs to be on an open wheeler)...
Because McLaren. |

It still looks best on the 908 and 917.
Off topic but I would love to see Johnnie Walker become McLarens' title sponsor once Vodafone leaves. The cars would look fantastic. Unfortunately it will never happen. Last edited by MPB; 12-18-2012 at 09:01 PM. |
