Waiting is tough, especially as we are having such good weather.
Andy, wish I was getting VO now. I'm bloody hopeless really.

a simple intro/ reminder to the dealers as each car is delivered could bring the attention to the Registry that would make it the useful resource it is intended to be Last edited by Stewart W; 01-29-2012 at 01:47 PM. |

Rumor is my car is awaiting shipment in Woking.... I was doing such a good job at pretending my car may arrive in 2013, now I can hardly wait another day! Can anyone say airfreight? No no no..I must be disciplined.

falb, I was told on the 17th my car was headed to port. On the 18th, it had reached the US (they apparently used a rocket boat to cross the Atlantic... lol), and it was here the 28th (took delivery the 31st). McLarens system doesn't quite update real time, so it might be quicker!

A rocket boat would work just fine, especially if it went through the Suez Canal!

It might not be a rocket boat, but it at least has twin turbos.

The wait is over. Got mine Feb 4 in Philadelphia, the first 300 miles have been absolute bliss. I added the last two pictures to try to capture the effect of Volcano Orange in the sun. Photos still don't do it justice.

Very beautiful, Admiral.
Best of luck; I'm assuming the Philly dealership treated you right. I have them in my radar, too.

How would you judge your GT-R (I asume this is yours on the picture) now that you have the MP4?

My GT-R, as modified (90mm exhaust, hi flow air cleaners, and remapped ECU), makes about the same horsepower as the McLaren, but it is of course much heavier, and is considerably less refined in the way it goes about its business. The suspension on the McLaren is sublime, and the gearbox is, as they say, seamless. The 12C looks better, the interior is more luxurious, and the driving position is perfect. Having said that, the GT-R is one hell of a car for the money. I have tracked it on both wet and dry days and there are times I would swear it operates under its own laws of physics. Is the McLaren a better car? Clearly. Is it 2.5 times as good? The jury is still out, as I haven't had it on the track yet, but it's hard to imagine how it could be. Nissan's accomplishment with this thing cannot be overstated. I just wish they had branded it as an Infiniti in the US. The level of customer service from the Nissan dealer network is not what the supercar customer expects.
