Indy 500

Not sure if attendance at the Indy 500 has been discussed yet, I have been very busy.

Anyway, I will be flying in Sat. afternoon (May 27) to take my son to the Indy 500 (May 28). This will be my second time to watch it live.

Any McLaren suite or event I can attend Sat. night or Sunday a.m. before the race ?

You are better off emailing Mclaren directly they are somewhat good at replying...

No response from McLaren HQ. Second time I contact them for some reason ... crickets.

Anyone know of any McLaren hosted events?

Thats McLaren for you either they respond within the day or never at all. Did you email someone at the "experiences" email or just a general email address? Maybe try going through you dealer or McLaren NA. My guess is the event is more of a private McLaren and Andretti only thing, but doesn't hurt to check since you will be there anyways.

Just general email. What is the 'experiences' email address?

I have been once before, the first time Dan Wheldon won (I think it was 2005).
What is amazing is how fast the cars are racing. Watching on TV doesn't portray
the actual speed, I guess you couldn't enjoy the race if the cameras did not adjust
for the speed. The actual speed they race at and the tremendous crowd make it a
spectacular event.

Middle of the second row - not too shabby!
As important, Fernando is clearly having a great time out there. If Honda get their F1 act together, or at least raise it above its present level of pathos, Ferdi might even stay at McLaren next year.

Agreed. Think the F1 summer break may be the time when McLaren (Ojjeh?) makes a decision on stay or part with Honda. There will be some PU improvements and aero improvements for Monaco, but after summer a new PU is rumored to be ready. It better be competitive--Honda’s last chance for a 2018 season with McLaren…….?
We will see.

The deadline for an entrant to declare what engine supplier it will use next year was a couple of weeks ago. In Formula One, the rules are rules until people decide that it is in their interest to change them, but it would be surprising if teams that would be threatened by a more competitive McLaren next year, such as Force India, Haas and Renault, were to agree to allow McLaren to change months after the deadline.

Yes the deadline has passed, but I'm unsure what the contract between McLaren and Honda says about ability to supply a competitive PU. If there is a performance clause in the contract that Honda fails to meet then this may be reason for the FIA to allow McLaren to change to another homologated supplier.

I don't see how McLaren could make that argument only a few weeks after Honda signed to supply Sauber next year.
