P14 Launch Edition Rough Summary

Hi guys,

I have seen the rough glimpse of the combination of the launch edition models.

First the colours, there will be six new colors. I do not recall the names exactly since I had a quick glimpse of the catalog, which I don't think anyone was supposed to have seen. The colours are white, Argon(blue), Memphis something (Purple), something orange that looked like volcano orange that is darker and had bronze tint, a brownish brick color metallic, and a porsche polar silver like bluish silver metallic but also can be seen some flat grey shade.

Interior colors are leather+alcantara black with exterior color matching inserts.

Packages are luxury 1,2 (lux1 pckg includes lux2), and performance.

Only "Serial Numbered" parts options are added to the options above randomly by Mclaren headquarter and the dealer, but kept minimal. Exterior carbon options are almost non-existant.

The base MSRP is almost the same as the 650s Spyder, and next year, there will be a price increase which the price will be between 650s spyder and 675LT Cpe.

1-3 cars will be delivered in late March as test/certification vehicle, which they are produced from March 18th, 2017. The launch editions will be delivered from April to May, 2017. Then thereafter the first batch of the "Orderable" 720s are delivered from June~July.

The exhaust cover in plastic had a heat issue which has not been resolved yet, so most of the first delivery car will have carbon options or alternative for it.

The Spyder version will be available one year after eight months since the launch. It is most likely that instead of a LT version, it will be called something else that resemble endurance club racing.

Increasing the bespoke MSO parts and they will begin putting serial numbers on some of those bespoke parts that were repeately popular in 650s (Such as gilled fender, turtle back the engine bonnet, and etcs., which do not have serial number but due to its popularity, MCL will put parts numbers to them.)

BP23 sold out in Asia-Pacific. 500k USD (in avg.) deposits have been paid. The seats are fixed and only the pedals and the steering wheels will move, similar to that of LaFerrari. However, after the announcement of the 720 spyder version, there will be another P1-like variant hyper car model before the release of BP23.

***IF THE INFOS ABOVE CREATE PROBLEM, I WILL BE SURE TO DELETE IT. APOLOGIES IN ADVANCE***

2017 Mclaren 570GT (Pacific)
2016 Mclaren 675LT (Napier Green)
2016 Mclaren 570s (Blade Silver)
2016 Mclaren 650s Spyder (Volcano Red)
2015 Maserati Quattroporte Q4 (Champagne)
2015 Mercedes Benz AMG GT (Magnetite Black)
2012 Ferrari 458 (Rosso Corsa)
2008 Porsche Turbo 6-Speed (Polar Silver)

Wow if that's true, it's a pretty huge price increase

650S coupe starts at 265K and the spider at 280K. 280 seems like a fair enough jump but for it to then go to LT price range in year 2, which is 345K, is a bit looney.

Yea so 25-30k price increase, particularly with the US dollar so much stronger, that's a pretty big price increase for year 1. And even more nuts if they further increase the price in year 2!?

That's certainly a fair bit more than just an annual inflation adjustment...

Will be interesting. I think realistically most 650s go for 320k. So 8% would be around 25k more. i was expecting less of an increase. Will be interesting to see. Perhaps more stuff comes standard?

at the preview I was lucky to attend at MTC I was told 8% more than the 650
its worth 25% more - it really is
wait till Geneva!
Its an awesome car in every way
and yes there is a lot more in it
(the launch models have lots).
Cant wait until the pics are all over this site
and everyone can see the thing
I was also told by Haydn Baker - the super series line director -
that the Spyder version had not even been signed off yet.
For sure they are looking hard at that though.
I think it will be, I hope it will be, but when you see the launch car you will understand why
its far from an easy one to engineer!!
I don't think we will see the spyder version for at least 2 years
Honestly, don't question the price of the 720, just beg or borrow to get one
(cant condone stealing or otherwise would add that also).

I've never let my enthusiasm get in the way of my questioning everything, certainly inclusive of price. But happy to hear you like it so much and see value there.

Hmmm. Thought prices should emulate 650 but with modest increase. This price Increase may be justified but could also entice someone to wait a bit as we move closer to a spider version 1 year later and prices will come down a lot. To wait or not...that's the question.

Current stable:
2016 McLaren 570s
2016 Range Rover (Fuji white, black roof)
2016 Porsche Panamera 4S
Others

Past cars
'12 MP4-12C Stealth Package - gone but will be missed
Endless Porsche 911s, Ferraris etc....

It's worth considering that the poster seems like they might be in Asia, thus a price increase in some currencies would be more likely than others. USD has appreciated a lot, thus it's more likely price increases are happening in elsewhere to a higher degree.

I would not expect the car to jump so much in the US.

Gotta pay to play...if you can afford $300k+ I don't think a minor increase is going to break your bank.

What do people want, same pricing for new models? Not going to happen.

Presumably added because of the high demand for Bourbon!

Pretty much. Particularly in the US with the currency increases in value to usd. The company is much more streamlined and production and cost per unit should be much better than ever before. And the car should maintain segment cost parity like with the 488. And it's not like they froze prices, they have been bumping prices for each model year. I guess when you come up with a completely new model a price hike is in order, and i guess 8% is at the end of the spectrum where it starts to feel a both frothy, but the 2nd model year bump towards 675 prices is a total turnoff.

For me it's a bit psychological as the car creeps up to aventador/p15 pricing I start to think maybe I should just wait for that as the delta isn't as large a gap.

I just reread the 1st post: 6 "new" colors. I'm assuming last year's colors are still available?
