What do you thing about the Prices ???

Hi guys,

What is your opinion ? What happens with the prices of 650 and MP4 when the 720S is completely on the market?

This is just speculation: I think it will depend on where 720's are priced at. If the 720 is priced anywhere close to where 650 MSRP is, 650 prices will drop dramatically. Since the 12C and the 650 are not THAT much different from each other despite the front end (which is an aquired taste), I think that there will probably be about a $30k difference between the the 12C's and 650s. 12C will prob be in the 130's and 650s in the 160s..

Prices of 720s is marginally higher that 650S...5-8%. This is what I was told at the reveal party. Prices will drop a lot for prior super series.

Current stable:
2016 McLaren 570s
2016 Range Rover (Fuji white, black roof)
2016 Porsche Panamera 4S
Others

Past cars
'12 MP4-12C Stealth Package - gone but will be missed
Endless Porsche 911s, Ferraris etc....

I just picked up a demo from Dimmit Mclaren for 237K 312 sticker. 775 miles. Every day this car just keeps getting better!!
Coming out of 991 turbo's for the last 15 years what a difference.. Much like a formula road racer car. BLIP BLIP and endless pull.
I m sold.

and that drop top!!! what other car has the sexiness and power of our cars that can offer this?? certainly not the cali T or the SL AMG's.....

winner winner all day and smiles all around

im thinking once the rest of the 650s spiders are sold out, the new 720 between the next few years, coupe to spider and time it takes to bring to market and now that peoples confidence in the Mclaren Product is put into perspective and understood WHAT THIS CAR IS AND OFFERS will Hold the prices much higher than people like myself could have obtained a car of this calibre for. That being said I think the price of the 650s fall the next 2 years a bit and then level off as their will always be someone with 150-170 wanting what this car has to offer in 4 5 years with 40 50K miles...with the higher miles being closer to the 150 just my .02

They have several and will go even lower from what I heard when speaking with them. If in the market, wait for 720 and you will see this go sub $200 is my guess--only time will tell.

possibly however most will find if they go LOWER, that the ones left hanging around will not be spec'd out as good, will have had warranty punched etc...

One datapoint on price... The spider version of the 720 is, according to the rumors in the 720s section, a few years away. The Sports Series spider might be unveiled later this year, but it may not be available until next year. So, if you want a convertible McLaren this year, you're looking at a 12c or 650 (or LT if you're lucky!). If you want a new one next year, you'll be looking at the sports series.

Given that the vast majority of 2013 and later P11 cars are convertibles, maybe the hit from the 720s isn't so bad.

It's also a fair point that the P11 cars have already depreciated quite a bit. It's entirely possible they continue to lose value, they are cars after all and that's what they tend to do, but I doubt the 720s will rock the P11 market much more than the standard damage done by time and miles.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the door hinges on 720S and how that could affect the spider version indeed. I am curious to see how you can even make a true spider that adheres to the coupe version.

The P11 will not go down in value forever, it will hit bottom and then start to go back up.

I'm a 650 spider owner but for some reason my gut tells me that the MP4 will eventually increase in value over the 650 in the longer term if you can wait. My basis surrounds the fact that the MP4 was their initial launch car " the original." And in comparison to the f cars the quantities are low. For that reason I believe the 650 owners (including myself) will be the ones most impacted by price in the long term. Hopefully my 675LT will keep me whole.

I used to keep track of the 12c / 650s prices off of cars.com. Out of curiosity I dug up the spreadsheet and added a row for right now. I excluded the 570s and GT to keep the numbers only on the 12c / 650s... The exception, I just realized, are the totals, that is everything McLaren that is on cars.com.

To each his own, but I look at this and it tells me that the bottom end of the pricing continues to go lower, but that 150-170 range has been a sweet spot for over a year. And even the bottom end, ignoring outliers, going from 150's to 130's in 14 months is a roughly 12% drop... That doesn't seem unreasonable.

_______Date	Used	Total	120-130	130-140	140-150	150-160	160-170	170-180	180-190	190-200	200-210	210-220	Cheapest Coupe	Cheapest Convert.

I agree with you. I just don't know where the floor is or what the timetable for the climb back up will be... Truthfully, once I got my 570, I kinda stopped paying attention... I know, I know, blasphemy!!!

From what I've noticed, the asking prices for good 12Cs have increased lately.

I agree 17bhub. And the swipe door cars will likely be the most coveted. McLaren should have never gone away from the swipe doors, they are an exceedingly unique feature!
